HAMPTON — Joseph Edward Berry, 84, died Friday (Sept. 11, 1998) at Franklin General Hospital, Hampton, of natural causes.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Hampton, with the Rev. Gerald Condon officiating. Burial will take place in Hampton Cemetery.

Visitation was held Tuesday at the Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home, Hampton.

Joseph was born June 12, 1914, in Mason City, the son of William A. Berry and Anna Mae Coyle. He attended Holy Family Catholic School, Mason City; one year at St. Thomas College in St. Paul, Minn.; one year at Mason City Junior College and also attended Mason City Business College.

During World War II he served in the U.S. Army from 1943-1946.

He married Mildred Van Every on June 12, 1941, in Bluffton, Iowa. He worked as a livestock buyer for Armour Co. for 43 years.

He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Hampton, the Knights of Columbus, VFW, and the American Legion.

Joseph is survived by his wife, Mildred Berry, Hampton; three sons, Michael Wm. Berry, Whitewater, Wis., Thomas E. Berry, Hampton, and Patrick J. Berry, Kirkland, Wash.; one sister, Helen Kelsh, Mason City; one brother, Paul R. Berry, Winona, Minn.; and seven grandchildren, Jennifer Lunzer, Superior, Neb., Steven Berry, Ankeny, Michael Berry, Milwaukee, Wis., Sean Berry, Whitewater, Wis., and Katherine Berry, Anthony Berry, and Laura Berry, all of Kirkland, Wash.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
